The main difference between drool rash vs. eczema lies in the cause and characteristics of the rash. Drool rash (or perioral dermatitis) is localized to areas affected by drooling, primarily on the face and neck. In contrast, eczema (or atopic dermatitis) is a broader, chronic condition that can affect various areas of the body and may be more severe in terms of itching and discomfort. Drool rash may be made worse by contact with food.  Patients with eczema may be more prone to drool rash due to their skin sensitivity.  If you are uncertain or if the rash persists or worsens, it is best to consult a healthcare professional for a proper diagnosis and treatment plan.
